What You Need to Know About Muscles and How to Build Them

You have about 650 muscles in your body. You need these muscles to perform everyday activities. Muscles are needed for eating, walking, and drinking. I hope that this article will help you to better understand how muscles work and how to build them.

Muscle fibers all have different abilities. Your skeletal muscles are the ones that you look at in the mirror. There are 2 different types of skeletal muscle tissue. Slow twitch and fast twitch. Slow twitch muscle fibers are mainly used for endurance activities. Fast twitch muscle fibers are used for more explosive short term activities like weight lifting. If you are not using fast twitch muscle tissue then you are not moving the bar.

The quantity of muscle fibers that you have is set at birth. It is up to you to work on the quality of those muscles. By lifting weights and getting regular exercise, you can increase the size and the strength of both fast and slow twitch muscle fibers. The harder that you work and the better you eat, the more developed your muscles will become.

Growing muscles need more than protein. Your muscles are made of protein and you also have to eat protein in order to get them to grow and maintain them. But if you are already lean and you want to put on quality lean muscle mass, too much protein will actually make you lose weight. This is because it is metabolically expensive for the body to process.

Be sure that you are doing weight training exercises and lifts that will employ as many different muscles as possible. Deadlifts,squats, dips, and military presses are good examples of these exercises. Use heavy weights when you are lifting, at least 85% of your 1 rep max. Do alot of work during your gym time, there is no time for chit chat. Try to do this in all of your workouts.
