Nadh Can Safely Boost Energy Levels

Nadh (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogrenase) is a coenzyme form of the vitamin B3. It can increase the levels of atp in our body and boost energy levels. Atp is literally the energy creator in all the cells in our body. It is necessary for many biological processes and can help fight against many degenerative diseases. Nadh is a way to increase levels of atp in our bodies.

In illnesses like parkinson's disease, nadh can improve outcome. There have been studies that have shown nadh increases enzymes in the brain that control the release of dopamine. Nadh affects an enzyme called tyrosine hydroxylase which helps in the synthesis of the chemical dopamine. Cells that create dopamine in the brain are destroyed by free-radicals in parkinsons disease patients. In a study from the 80's scientists showed that administration of nadh to patients increased their levels of dopamine. Nadh effects the enzyme tyrosine hydroxylase, which contributes to the synthesis of dopamine.

Nadh can also benefit other health problems such as chronic fatigue syndrome and depression. In a preliminary study with chronic fatigue patients, nadh had improved energy and mental symptoms in 30% of patients. The atp boosting effects may be responsible for this as some chronic fatigue patients have been shown to be deficient in the atp energy molecule. When used for depression, nadh can benefit the patients by increasing levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. Increasing levels of dopamine and serotonin can lift depression and improve overall mood.

An Extract of Gardenia Fruit Effective to Treat blazon 2 Diabetes

In Chinese medicine, the Gardenia fruits extract is traditionally used to treat the symptoms of type 2 diabetes.

Recently, a research team found that a chemical from the Gardenia fruit blocks the action of an enzyme which stops the production of insulin. The new founding is that Gardenia extract contains the chemical called "genipin." This chemical is able to block the function and activity of the enzyme named uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) through a special mechanism. As many studies have shown that an increase in UCP2 function has an important role in pathogenesis of diabetes, this genipin with its inhibitor action on UCP2, represents a solution for improving beta cell function in type 2 diabetes. Like the extract, Genipin stimulates the secretion of insulin in control but not UCP2-deficient pancreas. So it messes with the bodies natural ability to limit the production of insulin.

Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) negatively regulates insulin secretion. UCP2 deficiency improves obesity- and high glucose-induced beta cell dysfunction and was found to consequently improve type 2 diabetes in mice.

The action of genipin inhibits UCP2-mediated proton leak. In pancreatic islet cells, genipin increases mitochondrial membrane potential, increases ATP levels, closes K(ATP) channels, and stimulates insulin secretion. These consequences of genipin actions occur in a UCP2-dependent manner. Importantly, acute addition of genipin to isolated islets reverses high glucose- and obesity-induced beta cell dysfunction.

Anaerobic Exercise - Fast Fuel!

Anaerobic exercise is when you are exercising at a rate that requires your body to use energy systems that do not require the use of oxygen to produce energy from within the muscle. That's not to say that you are going so fast that oxygen is not being used. Some people error in suggesting that we get to a point where our body doesn't use oxygen. That isn't the case. What it means is that the primary source of energy being used at that particular moment is not dependent upon oxygen to produce energy (ATP) to keep you going.

The problem with anaerobic pathways is that they cannot be maintained for a long period of time. When the energy demand exceeds the rate at which it can be produced, you hit the wall and slow down. Slowing down allows for the oxygen dependent system (oxidative or aerobic) to produce more energy and hopefully catch up.

Another myth about anaerobic exercise is that lactic acid creates muscle failure and burning. The fact is that lactate (not lactic acid) can be useful in serving as a bridge between the aerobic pathway and anaerobic pathways.

The point at which the muscle is no longer able to clear out lactate fast enough to be used in aerobic pathways is known as the lactate threshold or anaerobic threshold. This measurement can be used to determine an athletes fitness level just as the maximum amount of oxygen that can be used by the muscle (VO2max).

Currently, there is a considerable amount of research to determine what relationship exists between VO2max and lactate threshold. Both characteristics are important for high level athletes.

Anaerobic threshold can be improved through high intensity interval training. Other sports or activities that require high levels of anaerobic threshold include basketball, soccer, hockey, lacrosse and racquetball just to name a few.

These types of workouts and activities are effective for improving lactate threshold because they tax the body's ability to clear lactate out of the muscles and become more efficient. High Intensity Interval training (HIIT) routines help achieve this. HIIT allows you to exceed your anaerobic threshold for a period of time by alternating high intensity activities with periods of rest and recovery.

If you would like to implement an interval training program to get you in shape fast, visit the Interval Training Guide website to get you started.

Something Has To Change In The Rules Of Tennis!

The grip of the dinosaurian in the professional field is more visible at the four major grand slams, Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US Open as well as Davis and Fed Cups. The ATP and WTA constantly try to bring innovation and adapt to present times while the old drudges stubbornly drag their feet.

At Wimbledon 2007, in the last few days two blatant examples have come to light and it's hard to determine who is to blame, if not all, ATP, WTA, ITF and the Wimbledon officials and rule makers. The injury time out rule:As much as I love grit, I also love fairness, in sports they go hand in hand.

What good does a rule do for a sport where favouritism abounds towards seeded or famous players? Not much, I shall say.

There were times when fitness counted in tennis and cramps were a sign of being unfit to play or the lack thereof sufficient grounds for elimination.

Yesterday, Serena Williams in her match against Daniela Hantuchova, was unfit to play and should have been disqualified."The umpire, the trainer, Hantuchova and several other official as gathered round as the injury break became longer, and a tearful Williams shrieked in agony when ice was applied to her calf." Of course I understand Serena's pain and suffering, but who is being treated unfairly? Daniela Huntuchova, who is fit and ready to play.

What happened thereafter is irrelevant, all the heroics from Serena for me amount to nothing, because the rule was stretched out unfairly in her favour, when she should have been eliminated on the spot.A three-minute time out is a three-minute time out, period. Any time past the three minutes is allotted a point penalty until final and irrevocable elimination. That was not done and a visibly upset Daniela Hantuchova who dearly paid for it with a bunch of unforced errors, poor play and lost a match she had won on fitness and by the rules!

As players are often punished and fined for on court bad behaviour, in a case like this shouldn't Hantuchova have the right to sue the Wimbledon organization and it's officials for breach of the rules and ask for damage compensation? Yes, she should.

The next blatant and alarming case of poor rules is the situation where obviously injured players continue playing and go on to win matches to disgracefully default in the next round;

There was a time when tennis players respected the game, the tournament, sponsors and what makes them stars, the public. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can remember that in more then one occasion "bad boy" Jimmy Connors at match point in his favour graciously came to the net and shook hands with his opponent, because he knew the nature of his injury would deter him from giving his best in the next round (a semi or a final). Bravo Jimmy! You were a fierce competitor and at times obnoxious to say the least, but you had your priorities right, the game, the tournament, sponsors and your public, first!

This makes me go forwards to Tommy Haas who was obviously injured beyond repair for the next round against Roger Federer, but that rather chose to beat Alexander Tursunov and a few hours later declared forfeit, because of the injury sustained against the Russian player. Do you think Tommy at match point against Tursunov did not know he would not be able to play the next day? Of course he knew, tennis players like all fine tuned athletes know their bodies well especially under injury, but Tommy chose to be selfish, cash in the quarter final prize money, did not give a hoot about the tournament, his fellow players, the sponsors or the public and bailed out!

Some may call it the luck of the draw, but put yourself in the skin of Juan Carlos Ferrero or Janko Tipsarevic that will have to battle it out on court and through yet another mentally gruelling rainy day, while a highly favoured Roger Federer is watching the events from the comfort of his bedroom suite. To add insult to injury the winner of the confrontation in all likelihood will have to play two five set matches in consecutive days, while Roger Federer is fresh as a morning lettuce having played his last match on Friday 29.06.2007.

Well let us call it the luck of the draw.

Sunday 08.07.200, well I thought I was over with the default and injury time outs goings on at Wimbledon, but I was totally wrong. Young Novak Djokovic even though he had had enough treatments for an army during his match against Marcos Baghdatis he decided to go ahead win the match on the fifth set and then forfeit during the Wimbledon semi-final match against Rafael Nadal. Some may say at least he tried, I say not good enough, he should have walked over at match point against Marcos Baghdatis and let him play the semi.

Then we have the final between Venus Williams and Marion Bartolli, where Bartoli asks for a medical time out and after 4 or 5 minutes play interruption, Williams asks in turn for a medical time out for herself! Shouldn't there be a rule, when a player asks for a medical time out, if necessary, the other player will have to ask for a medical time out at the same time allotted to the opponent?

As a side comment I must just say, some talented players are just not putting enough physical work outside the court to allow then the fitness necessary to perform at the level they want and need to. All these excuses that the tennis schedule is to tough are just nonsense. Coaches and trainers have to stop treating such players like prima donnas and set up conditioning programs that level up and surpass the competition needs in question.

What amendments should be made to the rules?

I suggest the following:

- If a player wins a round under injured conditions and the Tournament Doctor later on declares him unfit to play the next round match, he should forfeit his prize money for the round and allow the losing player to play in his place.

- In these conditions all prize money and WTA or ATP points should be the ones from the previous round.

- To avoid situations like Novak Djokovic combativity rule should be also enforced

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Creatine Levels in Cats

Creatine levels in cats are always a very fine line, but high creatine levels in your pet can be absolutely catastrophic. If your cat does test positive for high levels of creatine, it is a warning sign of several problems and all of them are bad. High levels indicate that your cat may have kidney failure, dehydration, some type of a toxicity, or poor overall circulation. It may also be the first warning that you have that your cat may have a urinary obstruction or is about to go into shock.

But there is one major problem; you may not have the luxury of having your cat tested for creatine levels, and as a result, you may never know it is high until it is too late.

Creatine levels in cats ideal range is 0.8 mg/dl, and the safety range is considered by most veterinarians to be between 0.4 and 1.2 mg/dl. Mg/dl is the traditional unit form of measuring blood glucose in your cat. The major source of creatine for any living entity, including your cat, is raw fish and raw meat.

There are several arguments on both sides about feeding your cat either of these sources, but most owners do not fully understand the real dangers that high creatine levels in cats can produce.

What is Creatine?

Creatine is the end product of what is referred to as phosphocreatine metabolism, which is a critical component of your cats muscle contraction capability. In 1927, labile phosphorus was actually discovered in the resting muscles of cats and it was named phosphocreatine. However, creatine is and has always been a very natural component of skeletal muscle.

It is very well estimated that wild animals can and do survive very safely with much higher natural creatine levels, especially wild cat such as lions or tigers.

But your cat is not a wild animal, and high levels can very easily take there life or put them in catastrophic health situations. Creatine is obtained by your cat directly from skeletal food muscle, such as meat or fish. During the digestive process in your cat, the creatine that is contained in these food sources travels directly to your pets blood stream, where it is than transported into their skeletal muscle and absorbed.

If your cat does not get enough creatine from their diet because they are being fed a veterinarian diet, it can be just as devastating as levels that are too high. In fact, too low of levels can technically starve your cat to death. If your cat system does not have enough creatine, it will attempt to pull it form amino acids that they can naturally synthesize. Once this occurs, it will nutritionally start the starvation process.

For this reason, the creatine levels in cats must be a very fine balance. It promotes muscle anabolism in two different ways; it increases the energy reserves as well as cellular activity, which in turn promotes proper metabolism.

How Creatine Works:

Creatine levels in cats must be at the optimal levels for it to work properly as it increases the energy available for your cats muscles to work properly. The cells in your cats body store their energy in the form of a molecule known as ATP, and the amount of work their muscles can adequately perform depends on the proper storage.

Creatine enhances the physical performance of your cats muscles by increasing the number of times that this molecule is recycled during routine or extreme exercise; however, it does not increase the amount that is stored in your cats muscle structure.

Creatine enters your cats muscles from their blood and their body harnesses the energy of sodium entering into their cells to move it forward. Creatine transporter activity is than enhanced by high levels of glyemic foods, or foods that produce sugar in your cats blood. However, not all muscle types in your cat respond equally to create creatine. The muscles in your cat can be either fast or slow reacting, and the fast muscles mediate your cats ability to move abruptly.

Slow muscles do not rely as heavily as fast muscles, but they still play a major factor in endurance and normal functions.

Dangers:

Creatine levels in cats can not exceed the danger levels, and although there are several arguments about the benefits of raw fish and meat for cats, there is one certainty; high levels are catastrophic. Raw fish or meat contains the equivalent of five grams of pure creatine. Cooking drastically reduces these levels and helps to degrade creatine.

The side of the argument that will suggest that wild cats have eaten raw meat and fish since the beginning of time without doing harm is absolutely true, but again your cat is not a wild animal. If this were true, ask yourself why high levels cause kidney failure, dehydration, poor circulation, and even shock in some cases. And why do low levels cause liver disease or induce starvation in your cat?

Summary:

Creatine levels in cats are a very fine line and the only way you will absolutely know the actual level is to have your cat tested for it. It is a very simple blood test, but it is one that just may save your cats life. Feeding your cat raw fish and meat may be the trend in some places, but it is very easy to cook it and eliminate most all of the dangers. Simply cook it for a few minutes and your cat will receive all to the benefits without the risks.

Is it really it worth to jeopardize your cats health?

DNA Structures

In all that we see in nature, the principle that we usually see is that form follows function. This is because in almost all creatures and plants, the unique features that they have serve a purpose. One example of this includes how some creatures are able to camouflage themselves within their background because their skin color allows them to do so. Other examples include birds with specially shaped beaks to help them catch prey, and the woodpecker is a good example of this. However, this principle does not only apply to the physical attributes of animals and plants as this principle is also followed up to the molecular level. This is seen on how the structure of the most basic genetic molecule, which is DNA also follows this principle.

Form follows function

The function of DNA is for replication and the transfer of genetic information. Given this, it can be expected that the structure of DNA would be designed to serve these functions. For its replication function, the two-strand structure of DNA molecule allows for the separation of these two strands to be able to bind with newly developing DNA molecule. This means that the two strands can "give birth" to a limitless number of DNA molecules as long as the replication process goes on.

For its genetic information transfer function, the way by which DNA molecule is made up of sub-units that contain a sugar, a phosphate group and four nitrogenous bases allows for the molecule to be arranged in a way by which a code is formed. This code is determined by the sequence of the four nitrogenous bases namely, adenosine (A), cytosine (C), thymine (T), and guanine (G). During the replication process, this code is transferred to the new DNA molecules that are formed through a process by which a gene that is formed or coded in the same sequence in which the nitrogenous bases are sequenced in the DNA. These genes then determine the proteins that make up and establish the biological characteristics of an organism.

As with anything in nature, DNA also follows the principle that form follows function. This is because the unique structure of DNA allows it to serve its two main functions, which are the replication and the transfer of genetic information.

How to Become a Pilot

Mary Wells was wrong. She was the head of a trendy New York advertising agency back in the 1970 era and she once said...advertising is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Yes, advertising is fun, but compared to flying, advertising is just a little snuggle .I am often asked by dads and sometimes young folks, what do you have to do to become a pilot?

The journey can be a tough one. You have to get through lots of tests and ratings and frankly, you have to have some luck. I had my share.

I came out of the general aviation ranks. That means I went out to the airport, paid the nice folks $25 for a test flight, and $10,000 later, I was in the front end of a Learjet. Trust me, I got lucky. I had no business being in the front end of a Learjet at that time in my career.

Baby Pilot, one of my dearest friends, went to school to become a pilot...a pilot college if you will. He went about it just like you would go about becoming a teacher or a business person. He went to class and his classes were in the air. He is zooming around the skies in a 747 somewhere and was one of the youngest guys to ever become a 747 left seat driver. (Left seat is the captain. Right seat is the copilot. Sideways is the flight engineer.) Not all planes have engineers anymore. There role has been replaced by computers and demands by airlines to cut cost by cutting the engineer.)

Baby Pilot went to Emery-Riddle Aviation University. There is no guarantee you will get that cushy airline job just because you went to an aviation university! Aviation is a brutal lover. It is about supply and demand and standards are very high. It is a popular career, too. If you want to check, just ask five of your friend if they would like to know how to fly a plane? Then ask the same group if they would like to become a bridge designer. You will get the idea.

The government is the biggest supplier of pilots. The Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines turn out tons of them and these pilots are popular with the airlines. Delta loves them! If you want to become a pilot and serve your country, why not check out the services? Most of the service pilots will come out of the officer corps so you should check into the service academies and use some congressional pull to help get you in. Frankly, having some pull is another big part of aviation. You will need some. Make pilot friends. Go to the airport and say hello.

You also have to be healthy. In fact, everything revolves around you being healthy. A pilot's license is good for life but you have to have a current medical certificate before you can get in a plane and fly it. There are three medical classes.

Third Class Medical. Your heart is beating. You can hear fairly well. You can see. Get this and you can fly but not for hire. In other words, you can fly but not be paid for it--no career potential. The certificate is good for three years and you have to be examined by a doctor certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (known as the FED's).

Second Class Medical. This one is a little more complex. It's usually reserved for pilots who get paid to fly but who are not airline captains. It's good for one year.

First Class Medical. Any pilot sitting in the left front of a commercial airliner has to have this medical certificate. It's a much more complex exam and is only good for six months.

If you are wondering what it will take to become an airline pilot, here's a great place to start. Find an approved FAA doctor--the pilots at the airport can help you with that or ask your family doctor--and get a first class medical exam. If you pass, you have a shot at being an airline captain if you stay healthy. If you don't pass, get passionate about something else and save yourself tons of money and frustration! Plus, you get a cheap physical.

On to the business of learning how to fly.

Category. Class. Type. Those are important words to the FED's and you! It's how the FED's sort things out and see who is qualified to fly what. Category refers to stuff in the air...plane, airship, balloon yada. Class refers to single engine, multi-engine. Type refers to the type of airplane. Think Ford...Pickup...F-150.

If an airplane is over 12,500 pounds in weight, you need an airplane type rating to fly it. In other words, you need a type rating to fly a 737 but that rating will not let you fly a 747 or a Learjet.

The FED's, or pilots they appoint, check you out to make sure you can fly that equipment. That little demonstration is called a check-ride. Today, most check-rides are given in simulators at the airline level and in the airplane at the little plane level. So, to sum up so far, in order to be a pilot, you will need:

1. A current medical certificate.

2. Rated for the category, class, and type of plane you want to fly.

Congrats. You can fly on nice sunny days! But what happens if it is cloudy and foggy? Well, you will need an instrument rating. You will have to learn how to fly using the information presented to you in the airplane without any benefit of outside such as where the sky is and where the ground is. Ground school, flight training and check-ride required. This rating makes a pilot a pilot.

Now you have:

1. A current medical certificate.

2. Rated for the category, class, and type of plane you want to fly.

3. An instrument rating.

Pretty big stuff! Now do you want to make a living at it? Well if you do, you will need a commercial pilot rating. The FED's want to know if you can fly the plane smoothly and with exact precision. That is import if you don't want to spill your coffee. Flight training and Check-ride required. Now you have:

1. A current medical certificate.

2. Rated for the category, class, and type of plane you want to fly.

3. An instrument rating.

4. A commercial rating.

Plenty neat. Now you really are hot stuff. You can fly a single engine land plane in the clouds smoothly and be paid for it. But how many single engine airliners are there?

The FED's want to see more from you and the more is called a multi-engine rating. Can you safely fly something with one or more motors going or one of those motors not going? Flight training and check-ride required. Now you have:

1. A current medical certificate.

2. Rated for the category, class, and type of plane you want to fly.

3. An instrument rating.

4. A commercial rating.

5. Multi-engine rating.

Now comes the toughest test of all and the FED's have nothing to do with it. The insurance companies call this one. Those folks want to see some experience before you go zooming off into the clouds and pay-for-play skies. 1,500 hours of flying experience would be dandy!

But not many people have the bucks to fly around for another 1,000 or so hours at $75 an hour to build the time to reach that magic 1,500 hour mark. What do young pilots do?

Back to the ratings. Pilots teach other pilots how to fly and it is often the young 500 hour pilots that become the teachers. They are called flight instructors There is ground school to take and a check ride from the right seat. That will allow them to teach new pilots how to fly on sunny days. Get an instrument instructor rating and you can teach new pilots how to fly in clouds. Get a multi-instructor rating; and you can teach them how to fly multi engine airplanes.

Get the picture? You can log the needed time sitting in the right seat and nagging a young pilot in the left seat like an ex-wfie at a son's wedding. Plus, the student pilot pays and you get paid to teach.

Last but not least, the ATP or Airline Transport Rating. You need 1,500 hours of experience to get this one. It's the master's degree of aviation. The ATP will help you get a better job.

Hopefully, you will, but always remember, there are a lot of pilots out there and as fuel prices go up and airlines merge and fold, the number of jobs is getting tighter. It's a tough business. It demands perfection. And it takes luck to get in.

US Tennis Fans Expecting Roddick to Rescue the US Tennis

After the Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras eras in the ATP circuit the US tennis fans have high expectations in Andy Roddick who is pretty much the youngest American star and who has by far achieved the most success. Despite the fact Roddick has not been completely remarkable in the latest tournaments he has won ATP titles and a Grand Slam. This week's tournament the Countrywide Classic, Andy has been seeded as the number six.

Many believe Roddick still has lots to give to the tennis world and especially to the United States but he does not seem to be on the right track as after reaching the number one spot in 2003 he has not able to be in the number one spot once again. That same year Roddick achieved his maiden Grand Slam in New York City. Right after this period Roger Federer became the world number one and the Spaniard Rafael Nadal the world number two in the ATP circuit.

One of the reasons Roddick quickly descended from the top position was the fact that he lost in three Grand Slam finals during Wimbledon in 2004 and 2005 and the U.S. Open in 2006 to the Swiss master Roger Federer. Nevertheless, Roddick has incredible potential but he has not been able to find the right coach to achieve more titles.

For the moment, Andy Roddick is the highest ranked American tennis player currently placed in the 6th position. On the other hand, there is James Blake another American who is very close to Roddick, he is in the eighth position followed by Mardy Fish who is number 40.

Despite the fact Roddick is a young player with potential the tennis professional career is not very long. Roddick's age of 25 years is considered middle term for a professional tennis player; he is estimated to have a couple more years at the top seats. Certainly, a victory in the Countrywide Classic and a good performance in the upcoming 2008 U.S Open Series could boost his ranking in the ATP circuit.

Moreover this year Countrywide Classic will not be played by the top-five players of the world, leaving Andy Roddick as the favourite to win the competition. This tournament is very important and winning it would help Roddick to gain confidence and will mean good news for the American tennis fans.

The current tennis campaign has not been very successful for Roddick but he was able to include additional achievements to his curriculum as the Dubai Championship defeating Nadal, a victory over Federer in the Sony Ericsson Open and improving his record against Federer 2-15.

Following the Dubai Championship, Roddick decided to take separate roads from his 2-year-term coach in a very unexpectedly manner. Also, after Dubai he faced injuries and other negative aspects. During the Rome Masters Roddick had to withdraw due to a back pain. And during the French Open he had a shoulder injury and more recently in the Cincinnati Masters, Andy pulled out of the tournament as well due to the same injury which had not fully healed.

For Roddick the coming tournaments could mean his rise or fall in the rankings from the top ten list therefore it is very certain we will see a lot more of Andy Roddick on the American hard surfaces in the coming days while the players get set for the final Grand Slam of the ATP race.

Igneous Rocks

Igneous...ignite! And that's just what happens when igneous rocks form. Fiercely hot molten rock from deep inside the earth pushes its way out and lights everything in its path on fire. As the firey liquid cools, it forms igneous rocks.

Rock types are organized, or classified, according to how the rock formed. It's a pretty simple system and there are only three types: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. Their names give clues about how the rocks were formed.

Earth's Mantle

Under the crust is the fiery hot mantle. Saying that the mantle is fiery hot does it injustice. The coolest outer part of the mantle is about 1000 degrees Celsius (1800 degrees Fahrenheit). Here the rock is molten liquid, white hot.

All Magma is made up of a fairly uniform mixture of elements. Some of the major elements present are silica, iron, sodium, potassium, aluminum, magnesium, and gasses including water vapor, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, hydrogen and sulfur dioxide. These elements form chemical combinations that crystallize in patterns to form eight basic rock forming minerals. These eight minerals form most rock. They are olivine, pyroxene, amphibole, orthoclase, plagioclase, muscovite, biotite, and quartz.

Igneous Rock Formation

Igneous rocks are formed from this molten magma. These rocks form when the magma cools and crystallizes. This can happen above ground as with volcanoes it is then called extrusive.

There are many kinds of volcanoes around the world. The materials that come from a volcano are different as well. We tend to lump them all under the term lava but rocks ranging from the very dense basalt to the very light pumice are just a part of what can come from a volcano. There is also ash, volcanic glass or obsidian, and the gem stone peridot to name a few.

The molten magma can also crystalize below the surface. When the molten rock rises in the crust but cools before it reaches the surface it is plutonic igneous rock and is categorized as intrusive.

Cool Enough

When the magma reaches the surface it cools quickly, a matter of days or weeks.
When the magma forms pockets underground it cools much more slowly. This could take thousands or even millions of years.

The rate at which the magma cools determines the kind of rocks that are formed. Faster cooling surface lava creates rock that is fine grained or aphanitic. The rapid cooling doesn't allow large crystals to form. I addition most of the gasses are driven off into the atmosphere.

The slower cooling that takes place underground allows larger crystal formation. Granite is an example of this type of rock formation.

Other igneous rocks are pumice, scoria, gabbro, basalt, ryolite, dacite, andesite and obsidian.

Rocks are, after all, the history books of the earth's extremely long life. The conditions during the formation of the earth left marks that one can learn to read, thereby discovering what happened to make a particular kind of rock in a particular place at a particular time.

Got Low Energy? New Formulated Max ATP 3 Energy Drink - Energize Your Cells

We live in a crazy world, fast passe demanding society. For most of us relying our every energy production to keep us going just isn't in the cards anymore. We all wake up tired, get home from work crash, then go to bed exhausted. Does this make sense? Should this be happening to me? Those are good question let me explain the answers to these question in more detail below.

As I mentioned earlier low energy a very common limitation around the world. Low energy will limit you from many activities and prevent you from preforming at your best. If only there was a pill or maybe even a delicious drink you could have everyday to keep your cells running at optimal performance. Over the last 25 years world renowned scientist Dr. Herbert Nagasawa has crated just that. He created an energy drink that will flip the health and wellness industry upside down. I confidently believe this this statement because Max ATP is the only energy drink powered by Riboceine. The simple fact that this drink gives your body what it needs to produce sustained and consistent energy at the cellular level while also fighting against free radicals generated in the production of ATP is what sets this drink at the top of its class.

What is ATP and How does it Work?

That is a good question. Most of us out there have no idea or we just simply cannot remember. ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, is your body's most basic form of energy and is produced in every cell of your body. It powers our cells, organs, and everything else in our bodies. Many different components are required to produce ATP.

ATP in our bodies is like the battery in a car. Everything in the car is relies on the energy from the battery. When the battery power runs low, the lights in the car begin to dim and the performance of the car starts to decline. However, when the battery power is re-charged or restored, performance returns to normal and the car functions exactly how it was designed.

The car example tides in perfect with what increased levels of ATP at the cellular level and how it may affect you. You always make sure your battery is charged how come you do not refuel or recharge your cells?

No one should be subject to limitation or allowing themselves to walk around with low energy.

The Power of Riboceine and What makes this Different!

Max ATP does what other common energy drinks cannot because of RiboCeine, a scientific breakthrough compound exclusive to Max International which provides key benefits tied to cellular energy and ATP production.

First Advantage, is that it effectively protects and delivers the delicate cysteine molecule to the cell. Cysteine is often in small supply in the body, but is an essential component needed for the production of glutathione, the mother of all antioxidants in the body. Glutathione is extremely important due to its unique ability to protect the cell and cell walls, where energy is created and stored.

Second Advantage, RiboCeine will deliver ribose, a natural compound required for ATP, the basic form of cellular energy found in the body.

Max ATP 3 therefore provides your body what it needs to produce, sustain, and consistent energy at the cellular level while also fighting against free radicals generated in the production of ATP in the body. This process cleans up what others leave behind, supporting perfect health of each and every cell you have.

Unlike all other energy drinks such as Monster or Redbull, Max ATP provides a dynamic solution to the energy creation, support, and protection needs of your body to help you live a happy and hols om life.

The ultimate clean energy drink.

• Fuels ATP production by providing optimal amounts of ribose, a critical ATP precursor
• Replenishes energy reserves and helps fight fatigue
• Eliminates free radicals
• Builds ATP in heart and muscles
• Helps with the conversion of food to energy
• Increases vitality
• Features RiboCeine to support production of glutathione to neutralize many different types of free radicals

At the end of the day is it really worth leaving your cells unprotected and running on partial throttle? Increase you energy while energizing your cells for optimal results. Your body will thank you.

Free Homeschool Science Curriculum - The Microwave Soap Experiment

We see changes all around us. The rusting of an iron object, the ripening of fruit, making of ice cubes, breaking of glass, baking of a cake, the burning of firewood or the souring of milk can teach us a lot about the types of changes that take place around us. I usually include such daily-life examples in homeschool curriculum so that children can learn using everyday occurrences and at the same time know why things change.

When you make ice out of water in a refrigerator, a new substance is not formed. The substance is the same: water. The only difference is that it has changed from liquid state to solid state. This change can be reversed by melting the ice cubes back into water. This type of change is called physical change.

When firewood burns, it turns into ash, a new substance. Furthermore, it is impossible to change ash back into wood. Therefore it is a chemical change. These are all occurrences that your child has experienced, and they can bring alive the homeschool curriculum.

When a fruit ripens, there is a change in taste and color, indicating that there has been some chemical change. A ripe fruit cannot become raw again, making this an irreversible change. What types of change occurs when glass breaks, when iron rusts or when milk sours?

The following experiment can teach us about change and lots more.

The Microwave Soap Experiment: You will need an Ivory soap for this experiment. Other soaps will not work as well or may not work at all. Take a microwave-safe dish and place a bar of Ivory soap on it. Place the dish in a microwave oven and run the oven for two to three minutes. Something magical happens!

You will notice that beginning from the point where the microwaves converge, the soap begins to foam. The volume of the foam increases within the next minute or so, and becomes about five times the volume of the soap bar. Don't touch the soap till it cools down.

Your eyes saw a change. Now touch the soap and find out if it was a physical change or a chemical change. Has the substance changed? Use it with some water and find out if the properties have changed.

When the microwaves heat up the air and water contained in the soap, air expands and water turns into vapor. The soap, which is softened by now, expands while trapping air bubbles inside it. As the soft soap expands it forms foam. This is a quick and safe experiment that could add meaning to your homeschool curriculum.

Now compare the above experiment to the baking of a cake. When you bake a cake, you mix flour, eggs, essence, sugar and other ingredients into the batter. The end product is something new: a delicious cake. Now, you cannot get the sugar or the eggs or the flour back in their original form. This irreversible reaction is called a chemical reaction.

Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1)

Vitamins help your body in one way or another. When you want to convert your food into energy, vitamins of the B group effectively do just that. Most food that you eat contains carbohydrates. Without the means of using this food as energy, you will not be able to do anything at all.

The job of Vitamin B is to convert carbohydrates into fuel which is glucose. This undergoes another process which then produces energy. That simple concept is the foundation of your body's metabolism and the functioning of your nervous system. Vitamin B is also important because it also maintains your skin, eyes, hair, and liver.

There are 8 variants of the B vitamins and Thiamine is one of them. It is also known as Thiamine mononitrate. People are more familiar with it being Vitamin B1. This is aptly named because it was the first B vitamin to be discovered.

Thiamine mononitrate is considered to be one of nature's stress relievers. This is evident because it strengthens your immune system and fortifies you body from any stressful conditions that may occur. Moreover, this supplement is very important in the metabolism process. It is an important asset that will form adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which is needed by every cell in the body for energy.

The lack of thiamine mononitrate in the body causes fatigue, depression, irritability and even abdominal discomfort. Since this substance converts carbohydrates, a deficiency of this particular vitamin causes problems in carbohydrate digestion. Other effects of thiamine deficiency cause pyruvic acid, a substance in the bloodstream, to build up. This can result in difficulty of breathing, loss of mental alertness, heart damage, or even beriberi.

In order to prevent this from happening, you should maintain a healthy supply of thiamine mononitrate in your diet. Although most foods contain the vitamin in small amounts, you can find a good supply of thiamine mononitrate in pork and organ meats. Also, rice, legumes, wheat germ, and cereals are some examples of food that contain the vitamin.

You should be able to maintain the levels of thiamine mononitrate in your body so that you can benefit from its positive effects. If you fail to do so, then your body may be at risk for harmful diseases.

Thiamine mononitrate is an important source of energy for your body. If you want to stay healthy, then you should make sure that what you eat contains this necessary vitamin.

Most Powerful Magnets in the World

The strongest magnets available nowadays are the neodymium magnets, made of a combination of neodymium, iron, and boron (abbreviated: NdFeB). They are called rare earth because their composition elements are found in the "Rare Earth" or Lanthanides portion of the Periodic Table of Elements.

First developed in the 1980's, neodymium magnets are characterised by exceptionally strong magnetic properties by even better resistance to demagnetisation, unlike most other types of magnets. NdFeB magnets are extremely powerful by volume and will retain magnet properties for decades (they are considered permanent magnets, even if they are not literally permanent).

This group of magnetic products provides the highest available magnetic energies of any material. NdFeB magnets require extremely high magnetising fields. They are are mechanically week, but magnetically very strong. Two magnets can snap together with enough force to chip or shatter on impact.

Sintered NdFeB magnets are hard and brittle. To protect the magnet from corrosion and to strengthen the brittle magnet material, it is highly recommended for the magnet to be coated.

NdFeB magnets allow small shapes and sizes and have multiple uses in science, engineering and industry. Various kinds of sintered NdFeB magnets in specific shapes and sizes such as blocks, cubes, cylinders, discs, spheres, rods, rings can be ordered.

There currently aren't any known negative health effects from handling NdFeB magnets.

Stegosaurus Dinosaurs

Stegosaurus was a dinosaur that lived during the Jurassic period, between about 155 and 144 million years ago. It was a herbivore (plant eater) that lived in the regions that are today North America and Europe (a Stegosaurus fossil was found in Portugal in 2006).

Stegosaurus is quite simple to recognize. It had a small head, a bulky body, and a tail. Stegosaurus is usually depicted as a quadraped (walking on four legs), but it probably could have stood in a bipedal stance on its powerful hind legs when browsing from the branches of trees. The most recognizable feature of Stegosaurus were the bony plates on its back - these are usually depicted as standing upright, and were arranged in pairs or a zigzag fashion - however there are some scientists who believe the plates may have lain falt on the animal's skin. As well as the bony plates on its back, Stegosaurus also a number of spikes (the number varied depending on the particular species) at the end of its tail.

It is not entirely clear what purpose the bony plates served. One possibility is that they may have helped protect Stegosaurus from predators. Another idea is that because of their large surface area they might have been useful in temperature regulation - helping Stegosaurus to quickly warm itself up or cool itself down, depending on whether they were facing towards or away from the sun.

An average Stegosaurus was about 20 feet (6.1 meters) long, but some animals were considerably larger - the largest animals grew to a length of 30 feet (9.1 meters) and weighed around 2 tons.

The Top 5 Strangest "Benefits" Of Creatine

1. Does not increase muscle mass

So this is a hidden benefit because this proves that creatine is not a drug. What really happens in the real world to your body when you take creatine... the energy source your body uses for fast muscle movements like weight training is called ATP-CP. What happens is you body breaks down ATP and the breaking of those bonds releases energy for you to use.

Creatine naturally occurs in the body, but when you put more into your system, you are allowing your body to take ADP, the resulting amino acid from the break down of ATP, and turn it back into ATP. This simply gives your muscles more energy.

Muscle mass increase not from creatine, but because of the extra energy that creatine is allowing your body to produce. This lets you complete more reps and sometimes heavier weights.

2. Creatine gives you brainpower

Say what? More energy to grow your muscles and now increased brainpower? This creatine is beginning to seem like a miracle supplement.

Researchers at the University of Sydney and Macquarie University ran a study that found increased brain capacity. The test included an IQ test and things like remembering numbers chains. They used vegetarians because creatine is produced in the muscles of animals as well, they didn't want those dosages of creatine to affect their results.

However, they found that in the short-term the people that received creatine were able to perform better at each test. Dr. Rae, a doctor at the University of Sydney, was quoted as saying... "creatine supplementation give a significant measurable boost to brain power." Pretty cool huh?

Dr. Rae drew the conclusion that creatine was able to provide the brain with more energy to use for computational tasks. Make sense because creatine is all about creating more energy for your muscles!

3. Creatine can combat cancer

Now this is sounding a little too good to be true. However tests have been run and there is a connective tissue disorder called Dermatomyositis. This is a connective tissue disease that is marked by inflammation of the muscle and the skin. Up to 50% of the cases of Dermatomyositis actual contain the presence of cancer.

The muscles with this condition get so weak that you will actually have trouble moving, getting out of chairs, raising your arms, and even trouble holding your head up. You neck muscles can actually be that weak. So you can see this is a serious condition. Good news is that is very rare.

Creatine was introduced in two different studies, one in the UK and one in Sweden. The studies only worked with around 37 people, so as with all studies... further studies are required. However, creatine plus exercise according to this study showed a muscle strength increase in the subject that received the creatine.

4. Creatine fights the progression of Parkinson's Disease

Chalk another incredible benefit for creatine!

Studies have shown that creatine has severely slowed the progressive nature of Parkinson's Disease. Dr. Dian Murphey at the Nation Institutes of Health, commissioned a study of 200 patients in the early stages of Parkinson's.

These particular patients have not received any prior medication for the condition. So in these early diagnoses of PD (Parkinson's Disease), the speed at which the brain degenerates was slowed down.

Similar studies have found when creatine was tested on mice, I know not the best comparison, but... when tested on mice, the creatine acted as an antioxidant that prevented damage from compounds that are harmful to brain cells. Also the mice experienced no loss of the cells that are typically affected by PD.

5. Overall health in middle to older age men and women gets better

I am beginning to wonder how creatine ever got a bad name to begin with. This last "strange" benefit deals more with the normal affects of how creatine is typically used.

As the human body grows older the natural aging process will naturally deteriorate the muscle mass in your body and increase the amount of body fat. Unless you do something about it, you are looking for a painful number of the golden years.

To help middle to older aged men and women, a study was done to find out the affects of using creatine to help with their resistance training and muscle building. Surprising enough the men and women saw greater muscle benefits from taking the creatine.

They had increased endurance and muscular strength. This alone reverses the natural progression of the body and these subjects say body fat go down the muscle mass go up!
