How Creatine Can Increase Muscle Mass

Creatine is a metabolite and it's produced by the body naturally. It is found in several places in the body, including the brain and heart, but its highest levels is found in red muscle tissue. The main dietary source of this metabolite is found in fish and meat, but it can also be formed by particular amino acids. These amino acids are methionine, arginine, and glycine and they exist in the kidneys, liver and pancreas.

So you may be asking yourself how this information can assist your athletic performance. In fact, creatine supplements are a favourite of athletes, body builders, and weight lifters because it plays an important role in how the body's muscles release energy and for increasing muscle mass by attracting water molecules to muscle cells and improving muscle protein synthesis.

Bursting With Energy

Creatine is undergoing vigorous study by researchers because it supplies the body with energy molecules. In a nutshell, when a muscle contracts it uses ATP (adenosine triphosphate) for energy and there is a very small amount stored naturally in a muscle. So the body supplies a revised version of the ATP energy molecule by accessing creatine phosphate molecules and creates ADP to replace ATP.

Obviously the more creatine phosphate in the body, the more energy can be supplied to the muscles during an athletic performance or workout. But creatine is often used by athletes to both increase energy and to increase muscle mass. Creatine increases muscles mass in two ways.

First, the creatine promotes the growth of new muscle protein. Second, the creatine increases water retention in the muscle. Both results will lead to an observed enlargement in muscle mass.

Creatine can also increase the amount of force in muscle contractions during a workout which means you see more results from your efforts. Since your muscles have more energy, you can workout longer and with less fatigue. As a result, you can increase muscle mass through enhanced strength training.

In fact, when ADP is depleted in the muscle, lactic acid is produced as a by-product. Lactic acid creates muscle burning which leads to shorter sets. When a build-up of lactic acid becomes too high, the muscle will actually stop contracting making it impossible to continue working out. By taking creatine supplements, you are able to increase the production of ADP and thus your ability to expand your volume and efforts.

When you can work out longer and more efficiently, the result will be more muscle mass.

Lean Mean Vigorous Workout Machine

Creatine is frequently used by athletes who want to see an increase in lean muscle mass. Since the creatine enables the athlete to better handle intense periods of exertion and can lead to more muscle mass in body builders, it is a popular supplement for serious competitors. But it is also used by the average exerciser who is more interested in improving muscle tone for general appearance and not competitive purposes.

In addition, creatine leads to faster body fat reduction through aerobic exercise. When the body has less fat, the lean muscle is revealed giving the body more definition.

There are many ways that creatine can increase both real and perceived muscle mass.

Business Virtualization in 2010

It's a new year and businesses are set for a very productive year. With the economy starting the up climb spending is beginning to roll forward again. For 2010 studies are showing that Virtualizing is going to be the biggest new trend for the year. This technology will make data easier to access and keep business streamlined through cloud computing.

Many are asking: "What is Virtualization?" The answer to this is, in simplest terms, moving business applications to a web based environment where it can be accessed through a secure portal via internet connection. With abilities to handle inventory, training, sales process and more, the web gives businesses the ability to run entirely in a virtual environment. This will not only give all parties involved one central access point to company information and data but also gives the ability for business without borders.

So what is the cost? A typical business will go through the virtualization process from beginning to end and this is typically a custom price each time. This would include hardware, bandwidth, custom programming and training. This will give your business the ability to move beyond the borders of your country and gives your business the ability to access your vital data when you need it, where you need it. Over the course of time the savings in software, licensing and IT support is a major benefit, let alone the time saved for each employee using the products.

Getting on board early is the best course of action a business could take - there are many places that are willing to help your business in this venture and offers many options that can be added and suggested for future development. Don't get left behind!

Buying Ribose Supplements - Should You Buy Ribose?

Should you buy Ribose supplements? Ribose is one of the newer nutrients brought to the attention of the general public by recent research. Ribose is now known to be an integral part of the energy production of the body. Most of the current research is in the preliminary stages, but there is much hope that it can help with daily good health practices as well as help those with certain afflictions. If you are considering buying Ribose, you should take a few moments to get some general background information on this important nutrient.

What Is Ribose?

Ribose is made from glucose within your body, and thus is a naturally occurring sugar and a major component of RNA. RNA is the most important carrier of information in your body. Ribose is also essential in the makeup of ATP. ATP is a compound in the body that stores and delivers energy to every cell in the body. Even though ribose is a sugar, it has no caloric value and is not considered a protein, fat or carbohydrate.

Who Could Benefit From Ribose Supplements?

Ribose supplements are used by many bodybuilders and athletes to increase energy during workouts. It also helps athletes to not feel so sluggish and tired after a workout and helps with recuperation between workouts. Though few take pure ribose supplements, ribose is an ingredient in many energy drinks and bodybuilding supplements.

Ribose has significant importance in the treatment of various illnesses. There is much hope for those suffering from congestive heart failure that ribose can help them live a more comfortable life. Ribose appears to help the function of the heart and restores energy to those with congestive heart failure.

Those suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome can also benefit from ribose supplements. As ribose is a natural energy source for the body, it can help to energize the body of someone with chronic fatigue syndrome and do so without the after-effects of carbohydrates or caffeine.

Possibly those who can benefit the most from ribose supplementation are those who suffer from fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a sometimes debilitating illness that has symptoms of painful skin sensitivity, sleep problems, weakness in the limbs, and muscle spasms to mention only a few. Though Ribose is not a cure, it can help to treat and limit these painful and life altering symptoms.

Does Ribose Have Side Effects?

Side effects from ribose supplements are minimal and generally non-existent. Those side effects are occasional light headedness and diarrhea. The recommended dosage of ribose is not to exceed 5 grams, 3 times per day and always with food. You should keep in mind that ribose is an ingredient in energy drinks and other supplements, so you should adjust your dosage accordingly.

Creatine 101 - What It Can Do For You

So you want to have that body that men envy and women adore? What can you do to achieve that body? Well, to start you can read about what you can do to the protein supplements that you need and the important topics that other people deem as important. To start off, read about one of the topics that the body building world considers as important - creatine.

Creatine monohydrate or Creatine is a natural nutrient found in our bodies and the bodies of most animals. It is acquired in two ways. One is the natural way where three amino acids are being converted continuously by our liver to create creatine. They are Arginine, Glycine and Methionine. Another way is from our diet or through supplements that are available in the market. Approximately 95% of the body's creatine supply is found in the skeletal muscles which is practically one of the major reasons as to why creatine supplements are very useful in getting that body type that you want.

Now that you know what creatine is and how your body manufactures it, let's study the purpose it serves especially in your goal. Creatine's main purpose is to aid in the production of energy - additional energy that our muscles need. We do not have to talk about the technical stuff right now; what you need to know is basically what creatine does and what creatine supplements can do to help you. Other than helping provide additional energy for you, creatine also helps in adding to the volume of your muscles, it buffers Lactic Acid build-up and it enhances Protein Synthesis in your body that will, in turn, maximize the results from protein supplements. In this sense, we can say that creatine is essential to the lives of athletes and many body builders. Let us explore this further.

Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) is the form of energy that is used by the muscles in any aerobic activity. This is what makes creatine ideal for most athletes. Creatine converts Adenosine Diphosphate (ADP) back to ATP once it loses one of its phosphate muscles due to activity. By consuming a creatine supplement, it enhances the amount of creatine present in your body where you can create an environment in your cells that has an abundance of creatine phosphate available, which allows for rapid replenishment of ATP. This leads to a readily available energy source so that the muscle is able to recuperate its energy much quicker and perform more work in a shorter time period.

Finally, let us discuss the most important part of this article, what can creatine do to help you in your muscle build-up goal? The answer is simple. Although creatine's role in the energy production process is its most notable trait, there is evidence that creatine can stimulate muscle growth. It does this in two ways; one is by allowing you to perform more workouts as a result of additional energy and an increased protein synthesis. More workouts mean more time to build up the muscles and to tone the muscles. Another is when an abundance of creatine phosphate is stored in your muscle; the muscle will hold more water in its cells and have more volume.

So why not try Creatine and see the results yourself?

Why is Roger Federer Winning So Easily?

There are several elements to consider, Roger is indeed a very talented player, an excellent athlete and there is a list of things he does ultimately better then his present opponents;

1- All the necessary shots to attack and defend from any position on the tennis court. Even though he has some quirkiness about his movement, in general, he moves quite well.

2- With a service that many could consider "weak" in power and speed, he compensates by varying, with precision (great placement) and consistency by serving a very high percentage of 1st serves in.

3- He knows how to attack and when to attack.

4- In the middle of the court with short balls, he is unforgiving and merciless, he either puts those balls away or attacks and follows them to the net with the right shot.

5- Federer can trade shots from both wings at great pace and all of a sudden totally change from topspin to slice low, long or short, with or without pace.

6- Even though Roger does not use it often enough, he can serve and volley well.

8- The backhand is sometimes prone to mistakes but, often so varied that opponents with weak backhand slices or hard topspin shots can hardly bother him.

9- Can generate great angles and passing shots out of nowhere.
Rarely uses the drop-shot, drop volley or lob but, has the ability to do it well if necessary.

10- Returns very well off both wings. Since opponents do not know how to press him, sometimes he limits himself to just pushing the ball back deep into play and gets into the rally from there.

11- Has an excellent inside out and inside in forehand, that can spray winners to any corner of the court.

12- Generally Roger seeks control of the center of the court and often tries to stay close to the baseline or inside of the court. Once inside of the court all hell breaks loose for his opponents and he rarely loses a point from that position, neither will he concede an inch gained inside the court.

Now why does he win most of his matches so easily? How do his opponents contribute to their own demise?

1- About 95% of his ATP opponents, have no idea how to handle a backhand slice of any nature especially the short slice to the backhand or forehand.

2- Most of the ATP players clearly do not know how to attack with percentage play, let alone have a plan of attack to speak of! Exceptions; Tim Henman , Greg Rudzesky , Jiri Novak, Tommy Haas, David Nalbanian (all handicapped by injuries or old age), Ancic, Murray, Gasquet, Bagdahtis, Dyokovic young lads developing.

3- A majority of Rogers adversaries (exception Nadal), take on too much of Rogers "nice guy image" and are not pugnacious enough against him, turning what should be a boxing match into a social tea party. This culminates with Roger being so gracious at the Trophy awards ceremony, as to thanking his opponent and his camp (coach, agent, physiotherapist, etc...) for the "Good work"! Oh boy, in Pancho Gonzales, Ion Tiriac, Ilie Nastase, Jimmy Connors or John McEnroe's days, would Roger dare to say anything like that and they would all have beaten him up with the umpire chair!

4- They often overlook the fact that Roger is not as strong and loose under pressure as it seems. A good observer of the game will notice that Roger does not like to have his "feathers" ruffled and once that happens, he is prone to very average mistakes. As was the case in the Australian open final against Francisco Gonzales at 4/3, 5/4 with Gonzales not being able to capitalize! Those shaky moments on Rogers part happen pretty often under pressure and I have seen them against Nalbandian, Novak, Nadal, Murray, Baghdatis, Davidenko, Henman and others.

5- Except Rafael Nadal and perhaps Davidenko or Nalbandian, no player on the ATP tour puts consistent pressure on Roger Federers second service, either by getting inside the court and attacking down the line or by hitting a deep heavy topspin high bouncing shot, especially to the backhand side and putting Roger immediately on the run or defense!

6- Barring Davidenko and perhaps Tommy Haas, no one hits down the line firm, fast ground strokes, that can take reaction time away from Roger consistently enough. Also when pulled wide out of the court by Federer everyone goes for impossible cross court passing shots right at Federer who is waiting in the middle of the court, when to go for broke with a screaming down the line passing is the shot to play!

7- Zero players on the ATP tour can hit technically sound enough slice backhands and stay in on a battle with Roger to the point of forcing him to be the first one to change to a topspin shot and therefore be challenged to get under a low ball resulting very likely on a weaker, slower, waist high punishable short ball!

8- With so many pushed and floating returns from Federer no one serves and volleys, not even as a surprise!

9- Very few are able to or know how to go to the net on a short ball, with most either over hitting with fast topspin shots cross court right into Rogers favorite waist level target zone and leaving themselves in no-mans land, open to easy passing shots to either side. Instead of attacking 95% of the times up the alley with a sharp low slice that would enable them to get in closer to the net either for a put away volley or a placement volley for the kill on the next!

10- Rarely do they try to counter the short backhand slice from Federer with a drop-shot or short sliced ball up the line. The volleys on the stretch, particularly the forehand volley are very suspicious and prone to mistakes, especially when the shot is hit up the line.

11- Seldom does anyone try to bring Roger unwillingly to the net and then pass or lob him!

12- Practically noone gets close or inside the baseline at rallies, with a large majority running 6, 8, 10 feet and more behind the baseline hitting impossible ground strokes on the run, while Roger instead, steps inside the court and dictates the point!

There is plenty more but, if ATP players did in their matches on a consistent basis, only half of what I just wrote, against Roger Federer, professional tennis would be one hundred percent more interesting; Roger would have a true challenge and we all would win! Instead we are all condemned to further drubbings of Rogers opponents (should I say friends?) and more boring one-sided matches with yet additional unintended hilarious thank you comments to the other players and their "teams" by Roger Federer at the trophy presentations!

Just a short note to end, do not take me wrong! I do not want Roger Federer beaten, I want him challenged to see his true best! I love his game and style of play like I did from; Lew Hoad, Rod Laver, John Newcombe, Pat Cash, John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Michael Stich, Stefan Edberg, Pete Sampras and others. Roger Federer is the last player that is playing the all round game so called "old fashion tennis" and proving everyone how effective this style of play can be, instead of the hard-hitting at all times mindless baseline game of many pros of today.

In all honesty I hope that Federer will continue to dominate for at least another 3 to 6 years. That will help tennis as a whole because it will force teachers to teach the one handed backhand, topspin and the slice. On the other hand as Roger gets older the greater will be his need to go to the net to finish points quicker, this once again will force myopic teachers to teach the volley better and the serve and volley combination, which will lead to the all round game having future successors!

So, long live King Roger! :)))

Creatine Monohydrate - Athletic Boost or Demise? Tips and Information

Should you use creatine?

Creatine is naturally found in the body as creatine and as creatine phosphate. Creatine functions as part of the cell's energy fuel. It is also found in the diet in meat and fish, but one study suggested that it could take over 20 pounds of daily meat to super saturate.

I have spoken with many athletic trainers and professional weight lifters about creatine. I have read many scientific articles on muscle contractions and the use of creatine supplementation in the diet, and have used creatine supplements, so rather than go into the organic chemistry of creatine, I wish to just share some of my personal findings from my use and studies.

How it works:

I will refer to my Biochemistry textbook for a brief answer to this. To meet the demands of a high-intensity exercise, such as a sprint, muscles derive their energy from a series of reactions involving adenosine triphosphate (ATP), phosphocreatine (PCr), adenosine diphosphate (ADP), and creatine. ATP, the amount of which is relatively constant, provides energy when it releases a phosphate molecule and becomes ADP. ATP is regenerated when PCr donates a phosphate molecule that combines with ADP. Stored PCr can fuel the first 4-5 seconds of a sprint, but another fuel source must provide the energy to sustain the activity. Creatine supplements increase the storage of PCr, thus making more ATP available to fuel the working muscles and enable them to work harder before becoming fatigued [1].

Discovered Nearly 200 Years Ago

Discovered in 1832 by the French scientist Michel Eugène Chevreul when researching skeletal muscle. He named creatine after the Greek word for flesh, or Kreas. In the late 1920s, after finding that the intramuscular stores of creatine can be increased by ingesting creatine in larger than normal amounts, scientists discovered creatine phosphate, and determined that creatine is a key player in the metabolism of skeletal muscle.

My personal experience

I tried powder and pill forms, but eventually stayed with the powder form since it is cheaper than the liquid and pill forms. I do not really know if there is truth in the statements that one is better absorbed than the other. I used the product daily, even though I only workout 3-4 times weekly, and I took it before my workouts, as suggested by a trainer. I used a loading phase for the first few weeks, and then a maintenance amount and I felt that I did have more capacity to do more reps in the gym, but this was my personal evaluation and not a double blind placebo effect test, which would have been more accurate. I felt results within one month of using the supplement, along with my whey protein supplement.

My Recommendations

Creatine taken with a small amount of food reduces the nausea that sometimes happens when taken on an empty stomach. Drinking additional water may be helpful. It has been reported that simultaneous ingestion of creatine with caffeine reduces its effectiveness.

Do not use it if you are doing swimming, running, or any other type of exercise where you would NOT want weight gain. There is scientific evidence that taking creatine supplements can marginally increase athletic performance in high-intensity anaerobic conditions. It is fairly cheap if you shop around, and based on my findings, I would recommend that if you really want to try it, that you buy creatine monohydrate instead of creatine ethyl ester.

Use Your Head

Some people have had health problems from too much creatine.

Creatine supplements have NOT been evaluated by the FDA.

Contact your physician if you have any health conditions, allergies, or other health concerns.

They are NOT recommended for ages 18 and under

Drink lots of water - creatine pulls water from the body to the muscle cells to make them larger and firmer, which is why increased water consumption is so important.

Eat Carbohyrdates - Some have reported that creatine may be more effective if taken with carbohydrates.

DO NOT drink creatine with juice - I used to drink mine with orange juice until I found out that most fruit juices (especially citric juices) actually neutralize the effects of creatine monohydrate.

DO NOT drink caffeine - Before you have your morning coffee or afternoon caffeine booster drink, remember that caffeine has the opposite effect of creatine monohydrate, in that it pulls water from the muscles!

DO drink your creatine with warm water - save your money and squeeze the most benefit from your supplement by helping your body to best absorb it.

Buy in Bulk - if you buy your supplements in bulk, you can save a lot.

In Closing...

There is a lot of hype on the internet about this supplement, and since there are no FDA regulations, make sure that you buy from a reputable source, and that you compare ingredients and prices. Do your research. The fastest way to get big, or stay fit, is to just maintain a weekly workout plan that you stick to, use a quality vitamin/mineral source, and eat a healthy diet.

It is also very important WHEN you use creatine. If you use it at the wrong time, you may be wasting your time and money. If you find that you are not getting the results that you would like, you should really read about when to use Creatine Supplements.

Training For a Mountain Bike Race

Mountain biking belongs to the category of sports that fills your need for adrenaline rush and excitement. From the moment you get on your mountain bikes until the time you rush downhill or cross country, you feel strong and free and you momentarily forget life's worries. You throw all caution to the wind, vulnerable yet unaffected by the elements that may come your path.

But of course you can't just get in there and engage in bicycle racing without at least considering the basics of this sport.

It all starts with sorting through an array of mountain bicycles for sale and choosing what's right for you. There are several classifications of mountain bikes with the differences between them centering on the setting where you'll use them. Cross Country Mountain Bikes are mainly suited for trails. Downhill Mountain Bikes are designed for downward riding. These bikes are more appropriate to use on elevations such as valleys or mountain sides where you partly use gravity to propel you.

Upon choosing the right mountain bicycle that would help you easily navigate your target terrains, you start off with addressing the fitness factor. You can't just jump in there and do difficult stunts without making sure your body is at par with the challenge. You need to be familiar with the three systems that our body uses in physical activity.

The first is the adenosine triphosphate or ATP system that gives our body the necessary boost to do a certain activity. In just a few seconds, we gradually lose this energy and it must be replenished in order for you to keep going. These exercises require major effort and so you must do them far and between.

The Anaerobic system doesn't require much effort and lasts a little longer than ATP. The goal of this training is to increase your body's lactic acid so that you can perform longer at the same time maintaining a high intensity.

The Aerobic system is a staple in cross country biking. It allows longer function than the first two energy systems and is thus more sustainable. Because it is much needed in bicycle racing, you need to invest a certain amount of time in Aerobic training.

This gives you an idea of the different systems that your body uses for physical activities. If you want to race you need to exercise these systems to enhance your fitness level. So not only do you need to make sure that your new or used bicycles are in order but you need to make sure your body can perform for the event.

Are You Getting Enough Vitamin B1?

We hear a lot about vitamins A, C and E but not a lot is said about some of the other important vitamins such as vitamin B1 or Thiamin. This vitamin is an important part of the family of the B-complex vitamins and plays a vital role helping the body breakdown proteins fats and carbohydrates.

Vitamin B1 helps to keep the cardiovascular and nervous systems working properly as well as insure proper muscular function. In fact, vitamin B1 is so important that the bodies main source of fuel (adenosine triphosphate or ATP), would dry up if it were not for this vitamin. The heart in particular uses this fuel to pump blood as well as supply the blood cells with oxygen.

It is thought that vitamin B1 may benefit those with congestive heart failure and it is also said to help with the tingling and numbness found with nerve damage. In addition, it is said to be a mood booster and can you feel more alert and energetic.

Vitamin B1 is a water soluble vitamin meaning that whatever the body does not use is excreted in the urine. This means that you can really overdose on B1 as it is not stored in the body. It also means that if it is not replenished on a regular basis you may become deficient in.

Are You Getting Enough Vitamin B1?

The Mystery Of Human Memory

Memory is an integral part of human life. This can be defined as one's potential to store, retain and consistently retrieve information. For years, experts in the field of medical science have been studying and researching to find ways to enhance memory.

A lot has gone into the study of how human memory works. Experts feel that the more you learn about your memory, the better understanding you can develop in order to improve it.

There are several things we don't forget in our lives such as our crucial school days, summer holidays, some of the tales by granny, the scent of earth when it rains, first love and a lot more. These are the memories that make our life happier.

There are also certain bad memories associated to our lives and we tend to store them in our brain for a long long time. These memories are some of the experiences that allow you to be a different person.

In modern times, experts believe that memory is complex. The memory of anything in your life or day to day activities can be referred to as a 'complex constructive power'. Everyone possesses one. These are certain impressions coming from a pattern of cells that's similar to a web. These cells are scattered throughout the brain.

Experts believe that the memory is made up of a group of several systems. Each system plays a different role when it comes to creating, storing as well as recalling memories. As soon as the brain starts processing information, all the systems mentioned above start functioning together in a perfect manner in order to provide a combined thought.

What we actually visualize as a single memory is a complex engineering. Whenever you think of an object; for instance a toy, all your brain does is to retrieve the name of the object, its' function, shape and sound each time it plays or you take it in your hands. Every section of your memory describing at a toy is, derives from a totally different area of the brain. The whole image of toy is created by the brain from several regions of the brain.

Whenever you ride a bike or drive a car, a particular set of brain cells brings out the memory of operating the vehicle from starting till the end. When there are several things involved such as remembering how to ride a bike, the nervousness as a heavy vehicle passes by etc. comes from all parts of the brain. Experts have come to a conclusion that there is no solid distinction between the way you remember and the way you think.

Of course, the experts have come to a conclusion of how a system actually works. However, it is still not clear about how one remembers or what generally happens when one recalls.

The good news is that there are several things you can do to enhance your memory. There are several exercises, programs and techniques you can follow such as playing riddles, puzzles and several other activities that challenges your brain.

Human memory is a mystery but enhancing one is not!

Read This Before You Start Using Creatine

So you're hitting the gym regularly, you've got your protein shake, the diet is nailed down, and you've made some good muscle gains. However, after the "newbie" gains stopped, you're hammering away day after day with seemingly no results. At this point, many people look for something that will kick start their progress in the gym, and creatine is a very popular choice. Let's go over the reasons why creatine is so special and discuss how to avoid common mistakes when supplementing with creatine.

Although creatine supplementation really hit it big in the 90's, the chemical compound creatine was first extracted in France in 1835. In fact, as early as 1847 it was marketed as a remedy that could help people do "extra work"! It wasn't until the 90's that companies were able to mass produce pharmaceutical-grade creatine at a price attractive to consumers. When this happened, and word got out that 3/4 96 Olympic medalists were using creatine, hype began to soar and supplement shops couldn't replace stock fast enough to keep creatine products on store shelves.

Let's cover briefly what makes creatine work to provide explosive gains in the gym. First off, creatine is a naturally occurring substance. It is stored in muscle and we can get it in one of two ways: Our liver can combine the required amino acids to create creatine, or we consume it in many types of food. After creatine is produced, it is transported to the muscles through the blood. 95% of the creatine in our bodies is stored in the muscles, and most people store around 120 grams of creatine naturally.

Now you know how creatine is produced and stored, but how does it help with sports performance? Quick bursts of activity require ATP. Creatine helps to regenerate ATP, thus allowing you to go beyond the limit of what your muscles can normally do before tiring out. So, in layman's terms, instead of hitting the bench press for 280 pounds X 10 reps, you might be able to hit 13 reps or even 15 of the same weight.

Most people start creatine supplementation with a loading phase. They take 20-30 grams of creatine monohydrate mixed with grape juice or water, once per day for five days. After loading the creatine, they cut back to 5-10 grams per day to keep the muscles saturated. After four days of this regimen, you can take two weeks off to "de-load" the creatine, then start the loading process again. Following these instructions, most people start to see muscular gains within two weeks. Creatine super-hydrates the muscles with water, so it is important to drink lots of water which supplementing with creatine.

Still not convinced that creatine is the best choice to jump-start your muscle gain? How about the fact that creatine is one of the best studied nutritional supplements of all time, and that there have been zero adverse effects published in any of these studies? Creatine will allow you to lift more weight for more reps, it helps recovery, makes your muscles appear fuller, and staves off lactic acid build up. Truly it is an amazing weapon in any weight lifter's arsenal.

How Fat Is Burned: Turning Fat into Energy, Carbon-dioxide and Water!

The primary reason we need to eat food is to provide fuel for the body. This fuel comes from the breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. To explain it simply, food is broken down to produce energy, and it takes many chemical processes for that to occur. Molecules are removed, heat is produced, but basically all that is left in the end is water, carbon-dioxide, and energy.

But it's far more complicated than that. Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, each get converted to energy but each take a different path.

Before I start on how fat is burned (or broken down), let me first explain a few key terms in the process of converting food to energy:

ATP: Adenosine Tri-Phosphate is energy. It's what the body uses as fuel at the cellular level. It can be produced using oxygen (aerobic), or without the presence of oxygen (anaerobic).

Glycolysis: An anaerobic process where glucose is converted to pyruvic acid.

Pyruvic Acid: If oxygen is available it is converted into acetyl CoA. If no oxygen is available it is converted into lactic acid.

Acetyl CoA: All this potential energy can only be achieved if it enters the Krebs Cycle, and to do this it must first be converted in to acetyl CoA.

Krebs Cycle: This is an eight step cycle that amongst other things, removes hydrogen and carbon-dioxide. It also produces a small amount of ATP.

The Electron Transport Chain: The final process in the breakdown of foods. This is where most of the ATP is formed.
How Fat Is Broken Down
There are a number of fats in the body but it's the triglycerides, or "neutral fats", that are usually converted to energy. The triglycerides come from both stored fat (from within fat cells and skeletal muscle fibers) and diet (the foods we eat). This single triglyceride will eventually produce 441 ATP molecules. When compared to the 38 ATP that are produced by glucose, you can easily see why fat is considered a much richer source of energy.

Step 1: The break-down of triglycerides
To be used for energy a triglyceride needs to be broken down into its basic units: one molecule of glycerol and 3 molecules of fatty acids. This process is called Lipolysis.

Step 2: Conversion to acetyl CoA
Although they both have the same outcome, the glycerol and fatty acids each follow a different path. Their goal is to enter the Krebs Cycle, but first they must get converted to acetyl CoA.

Step 2a: Glycerol to acetyl CoA
Glycerol, which is a basic sugar, follows the glycolytic pathway (glycolysis). During this process it is converted into pyruvic acid. For entry into the Krebs Cycle, the pyruvic acid must be converted to acetyl CoA.

This is done in 3 steps:

i) One carbon is removed from the pyruvic acid and released as carbon dioxide, which is released from the cell and exits via the lungs.

ii) Hydrogen atoms are removed and will later exit be used to produce more energy.

iii) What's left is called acetic acid, and it is combined with coenzyme A to form Acetyl CoA

Step 2b: Fatty acids to acetyl CoA
Fatty acids are converted into Acetyl CoA via a process called beta-oxidation. During this process the fatty acid chains are broken apart, forming two acetic acid molecules. Each of these are then fused to coenzyme A, forming acetyl CoA.

Step 3: The Krebs Cycle
At this point both the glycerol and the fatty acids have been converted to Acetyl CoA and are now ready for the Krebs Cycle. As the Acetyl CoA is broken down, carbon-dioxide and hydrogen are removed. Once again the carbon-dioxide exits the body via the lungs. However, the hydrogen moves on to the final stage.

Step 4: The Electron Transport Chain
The Electron Transport Chain is the final process in the break down of food. Each of the hydrogen molecules that were removed during the previous processes have been transported here. They now combine with oxygen to form water (H20), with the resulting energy from this reaction causing the formation of ATP.

Bryan Twins Handle Giant Task, While Nadal and Almagro Will Meet at Quarterfinals

The twin Bob Bryan 6.4 ft, and his brother Mike Bryan with one inch shorter have been making a big impression in the ATP tournaments as a duo. At the French Open the Bryans had to face the couple of the yet taller Americans, Sam Querry of 6-6 ft and John Isner of 6-9 ft.

"That's the largest team we've played," Bob said. "It's not comfortable playing those guys."

The Bryan twins, who are the number one seeded, have a lot more experience, counting a Grand Slam history in doubles. The fact is that the twins prevailed with low shots and they defeated Querrey and Isner 7-6 and 6-2, accomplishing the quarterfinals at the Roland Garros.

"If you make them bend, you could see whenever they missed a first serve and you made a good return down at their feet, they're pretty much almost out of the point," Mike said. "When the big-hitting Isner served for the first set with a 5-3 lead, we were already looking forward to the second, we figured a break there would be awfully tough", stated Mike.

In addition to make the strategy work, the twins won the point and with their hurting breaking serve, the Bryans twisted the match roughly and triumph by far at the end.

Now the twins prepare themselves to play against Luis Horna and Pablo Cuevas on Monday. (O lo deja como estaba, si va a agregar que ganaron el partido)

Bob and Mike won the French Open in 2003 and were finalists in the year 2005 and 2006. In contrast, Isner and Querrey are playing just their second tournament together as a team.

"They're still pretty green on doubles," Bob said. "They're both young in their careers, and you could just see them being better and better as the match went on."

On the other hand, Rafael Nadal will play on the single's quarterfinal against his fellow countryman, Nicolas Almagro, who celebrated his qualification to the quarterfinals by shaving the head of some friends and family members. Almagro, who's number 19th in the ATP world ranking, defeated Jeremy Chardy 7-6, 7-6, 7-5.

"I'm going to shave their heads. I'll use the razor. I don't know if I'll shave just part of it. We'll see," Almagro said. "I don't know how my father is going to react when I shave his head. I won't do that to my mother, because this is the person who is the most important for me in my life."

Additionally, triple champion Rafael Nadal scored his 25th win in 25 Roland Garros matches, defeating Spaniard Fernando Verdasco, the 22nd seed, with a 6-1, 6-0, 6-2 result.

Verdasco was broken three times in the first set and had to wait until the sixth game of the second set were he managed to cut out a break point, which Nadal comfortably saved. Fernando, had been beaten by Nadal in all five of their matches.

On Tuesday Nadal will face Nicolas Almagro, for a trip to the semis, where he most likely will meet No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic. The Nadal-Djokovic winner will play the final against Roger Federer.
